Ideas worth spreading.

About TEDxAustin:
Thinks global, plays local.

Austin is the creative heart of Texas; a vibrant crossroads of entertainment, technology, politics and entrepreneurship. We're filled with folks who thrive on engaging with new ideas and actualizing them in a big (some would say Texas-size) way. So TEDxAustin was thrilled to debut with an inaugural event on 02.20.10 that united many of those progressive, positive and passionate thinkers and doers for a day that ignited and inspired. Play Big was the theme for the day, and continues to be a call to action.     Read our manifesto.

TEDxAustin 2010:
Play Big.

On Saturday, 02.20.10, we gathered for a day dedicated to TED and the TED-like vision of Austin. The venue? None other than the Austin locale known for playing big for 35 years: the venerable Austin City Limits studio at KLRU on the UT campus. And it was literally a landmark occasion. Recently named a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Landmark, the ACL studio stage hosted riveting speakers, dynamic performers and carefully curated TEDTalks from the impressive TED library. About the event.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx.

TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is call TEDxAustin, where x=independently organized TED event. At our TEDxAustin event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.

The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
